「繆思」一詞源於希臘神話掌管藝術與天文科學的神祇總稱,後可指涉創作時激發其靈感的人事物。對藝術家而言,終其一生都在尋找屬於自己的靈光時刻,用以演繹其生命經驗中那些無以言狀的內心狂想,屏蔽外界干擾,解放內在驅力。邁入立夏,大雋藝術很榮幸邀請到五位分別來自韓、日、中、台之亞洲當代藝術家 — 曹圭訓、李素乙、FIKAS、墨白與趙璿,4月30日至6月18日於大雋藝術舉辦最新創作聯展,他們從日常風景、生態關懷、時事議題等多元範疇之領略,感知個人與整個大時代的關係,召喚出心中的感動與願景,用獨特視角帶領你我神遊他們的繆思小宇宙!

“Muse” is a group of inspirational deities of the arts and science in Greek and Roman mythology that later became a synonym for inspiration. An artist’s lifelong pursuit is the inspiration to portray indescribable thoughts, block out disturbances from the outside world, and release the inner artistic drive. As we enter summer, Rich Art is honored to be presenting a group exhibition featuring the works of Korean, Japanese, Chinese, and Taiwanese artists Jo Gyuhun, Lee Soeul, FIKAS, Mobai, and Chao Hsuan from April 30th to June 18th. The works in this exhibition showcase a variety of themes, from portrayals of daily life, environmental concerns, and social issues. The display explores the relationship between the individuals and the times they live in, inspiring heartfelt appreciation and unique perspectives of the artist’s inner world.

✺ 曹圭訓 Jo Gyuhun(조규훈)

孩子們雙手捂著臉,在隱藏的面孔背後究竟發生了什麼故事呢?
What are the stories of the children, whose faces are covered by their hands?

興許他們剛歷經了心動時刻,遮掩面龐泛起的微紅;也許是正開始一場緊張刺激的捉迷藏遊戲。曹圭訓以孩子的視角作為靈感,打造一童話化境,張眼的瞬間,目光所致皆充滿各種奇想與可能。藝術家期許透過鮮活的形象塑造及情節鋪敘,令觀者愉悅地懷想曾經簡單即能滿足的小幸福、憶起兒時那份情竇初開的小美好。

Perhaps their faces are flushed due to heartfelt moments, or maybe they are about to begin an exciting game of hide and seek. Inspired by the perspective of children, Jo Gyuhun creates innocent imageries filled with imagination and possibilities, hoping the lively scenarios and narratives will remind viewers of simple joys and the beautiful memories of first loves.

1982年出生於韓國仁川,現居仁川。韓瑞大學視覺動畫學士畢業,作品曾發表於Busan International Art Fair、Seoul Art Show等韓國指標性藝術博覽會,2022年攜手大雋藝術首度進行海外創作發表計畫。

Jo Gyuhun was born in Incheon, Korea, in 1982 and graduated from Hanseo University, majoring in animation. Jo is based in Incheon and his works have been showcased at prestigious Korean art fairs such as the Busan International Art Fair and Seoul Art Show. Jo started working with Rich Art for overseas presentations in 2022

✺ FIKAS

FIKAS作品風格揉雜街頭文化與動漫美學,視覺語彙反映時下流行文化浪潮,展現新世代對於當今社會各種面向的自我詮釋與觀點。

FIKAS’s works are known for integrating street culture and animamix. The visual vocabulary of the works reflects trends of popular culture and sheds light on how the younger generation view and interpret different social issues. Since 2022, FIKAS has incorporated relational graphs of animation and black humor to portray interesting stories.

「我很喜歡日本昭和時期作家梶井基次郎(Kajii Motojirō)的短篇小說《檸檬》,故事中的憂鬱青年把在水果店買的檸檬幻想成炸彈留在了書店,故事情節帶給我相當大的震撼,在心中迴盪許久。我認為小說裡的青年想通過炸毀書店檸檬來改變現實,創造出破格的美與自我,回望著現在處於困境中的世界,這樣的故事鋪成宛若香料般撫慰我們的心靈。這次聯展我所發表的《untitled》系列便以此為靈感,畫面中可見盆栽變成了炸彈,它們由「想像前的狀態」和「想像後的狀態」兩個部分組成,然而,「想像後」的畫面卻處於爆炸前的狀態,最後到底有沒有引燃爆炸就由觀者自行想像了!」

“ I really liked a short story called “Lemon” by Motojiro Kajii, Who I learned in class when I was a student. He left the lemon he bought at the fruit store as a bomb in a bookstore. It was quite shocking, exhilarating and exciting for me at that time. I think he wanted a change in reality by blowing up the lemon in the bookstore and created a new beauty in himself. This spice is definitely needed now that the world is in a difficult situation. The artwork I made for this exhibition is inspired by his novel. The case in my room is shaped like a bomb, so I modeled it on it.It consists of two parts: “the state before imagination” and “the state after imagination”. However, the picture “after imagination” is in its pre-explosion state.Whether to explode or now depends on the viewer. Let’s imagine, and let’s explode it!”

2022年起發展出採漫畫人物關係圖構圖形式,以黑色幽默劇情鋪敘出一部部意趣橫生的有趣故事。本次展覽可見全新亮相的第二彈女主角GRACE,她在大學畢業後離奇消失,其中的百轉千迴及最終真相潛藏於各角色符碼之間,給予觀者參與編劇的快感與嶄新互動。

During this exhibition, the brand-new female character GRACE is introduced to viewers. GRACE mysteriously disappeared after graduating from university, and the truth is hidden in the symbols of each character, allowing viewers to indulge in the satisfaction and excitement of being playwrights.

1983年出生,現居東京。曾任平面插畫設計師,2016年開始以出版聯名商品方式跨界合作發表數件繪畫作品。2020年成為專職藝術家,並於2022年起攜手大雋藝術在台發表一系列最新創作。

FIKAS was born in 1983 and currently lives in Tokyo. FIKAS was previously a graphic designer and illustrator who started creating interdisciplinary digital drawings in the form of co-branded merchandise in 2016 and became a full-time artist in 2020. FIKAS started working with Rich Art in 2022.

✺ 李素乙 Lee Soeul(이소을)

「我希望那些被人們遺忘的動物們,無論牠們是身處於森林或是城市裡的,都能在我的畫中獲得圓滿結局。」

根基於對動物保育議題的啟迪,並結合古代神話的綺想,李素乙的作品展現出一個獨特且魔幻的世界觀,在她的架空國度裡,「Mimyohae」被視為守護森林的山神,以此為發端,牽引出無數迷人物語。

Inspired by issues in animal conservation, Lee integrates ancient mythology to present a unique and magical world. In the world of Lee, “Mimyohae,” the guardian spirit of forests, becomes a starting point that leads to countless enchanting anecdotes.

在2022年全新創作中,講述著一隻貓Iro背包旅行的故事,旅途間牠遇到戴著拳擊手套的熊、嗷嗷待哺的野豬崽,隨著場景的轉換,唯一不變的是Mimyohae殷殷地關切與引路。山嵐泛著綠意滿佈畫面,讓觀者彷如棲身林間,靜待與動物朋友們的恰逢其會。

In her new 2022 series, Lee depicts the travels of a cat named Iro. With a backpack, Iro meets a bear wearing boxing gloves and a hungry wild piglet. The only thing that remains constant in the changing scenes is the loving guidance of Mimyohae. The image allows viewers to immerse in the depiction of green mountains, waiting for encounters with the animals.

1983生於釜山,2008年東亞大學美術系畢業後於韓國首爾、釜山及日本東京舉辦多場個展及聯展,2018年曾受東京千代田藝術中心之邀加入「Air 3331駐村計畫」,2022年首次登台於大雋藝術展出最新創作。

Lee was born in Busan in 1983. After graduating from Dong-A University Department of Fine Arts in 2008, Lee participated in various solo and groups exhibitions in Seoul, Busan, and Tokyo, and was even invited to join the artist in residence program “Air 3331” by 3331 Arts Chiyoda in 2018. Lee’s collaboration with Rich Art is the first time the artist’s works are showcased in Taiwan.

✺ 墨白 Mobai

墨白的創作瀰漫著如實般的模糊感,筆下栩栩如生的視觸營造,使我們似乎真實感受到微風流竄林間的綠葉婆娑、黎明拂曉沐浴白光的歲月靜好。

The works of Mobai exude a sense of blurriness while the lively visual depictions create a feeling as if being immersed in greenery and embraced by a cool breeze, or showering in the pale, serene light at the break of dawn.

她跳脫傳統書畫桎梏,探索將工筆畫的技法與複合媒材結合,近年更多運用自然材料如樹枝、土石、植物入畫,蘊造豐厚的質感與生機。曠野在她的畫裡藏著舒緩而平靜的能量,斑駁輕沉的色彩則傳遞出追憶歲時的侘寂情懷。盼在充滿躁動的時代,紊亂的思緒得以在墨白的繪畫世界中獲得療癒與抒發。

Breaking free from the restrictions of traditional Chinese painting and calligraphy, Mobai experiments with integrating gongbi methods with mixed media, and her recent paintings show inclusions of twigs, soil, stones, and plants, embodying a vibrant sense of life. The wilderness in her works manifests a sense of calm and stillness, while the patchy colors express steadfastness that inspires contemplation of the past and the beauty of imperfection. In times of restlessness, Mobai’s works still the mind and provide a therapeutic sense of release.

墨白1985 生於福州,自小受畫家父親薰陶常年習書,後畢業於中國美術學院國畫系花鳥專業,現於北京與日本伊豆居住並專職創作,自2009年起在中國、台灣及日本各大城市舉辦展覽,獲得高度關注與好評。

Mobai was born in 1985 in Fuzhou. Under the influence of her father, also a painter, the artist started learning to paint at a young age. Mobai graduated from the China Academy of Art Chinese Painting Department, majoring in bird-and-flower paintings, and currently lives and works in Beijing and Izu (Japan) as a full-time artist. Since 2009, Mobai has held exhibitions in numerous cities across China, Japan and Taiwan.

✺ 趙璿 Chao Hsuan

帶上一些瘋狂與混沌
夜色落幕我們就開始書寫彼此的故事
紅色的房間有沒寫完的詩
處於這個灰濁的城市
所有易碎的好夢
都需要被更好的守護
所有沒有做完的夢
都在下一個轉角變成更大的影子。

With a hint of madness and chaos
The night descends, we begin writing each other’s stories

Within this hazy city

心境總能在趙璿的筆間得到淋漓盡致的體現,她通過各式縱橫交錯、高低起伏的肌理處理,未乾的顏料因表面洇滲度的差異,產生半自動性的淤積,巧妙而不動聲色地映現層層遞進的歲月刻痕。景物依舊,人事已非,無數回憶宛若斑斕色彩流淌心中,隨著時間推移淬煉成形形色色的結晶,期許觀者在一張張情緒飽滿的畫作中,覓見與自身共鳴的記憶連結。

The inner states of existence are always eloquently portrayed in the works of Chao Hsuan. Through intertwined lines and uneven textures, the wet pigments semi-automatically pool in parts of the works due to different absorption rates of the surface, cleverly embodying the progress of time. Although the scene remains the same, the people within have changed, with memories flowing in between like splendid colors that crystalize into different shapes, hoping viewers will find traces of themselves and their memories, resonating with the works.

1990年生於台北,2017年畢業於台北市立大學視覺藝術研究所,2010年中國文化大學美術學系就學期間於台中市/宜蘭縣政府文化局《PEIPAI 藝術聯展》展露頭角,後受邀展出於台灣各大城市。

Chao Hsuan was born in Taipei in 1990 and graduated from the University of Taipei Graduate School of Visual Arts in 2017. Chao moved under the spotlight during “PEIPAI 2010: The Associate Exhibition in Winter” (organized by Taichung City/Yilan County Cultural Affairs Bureau) in 2010 while studying at university and was later invited to exhibit her works across Taiwan.
